Marc´s Art Portrait

Island

Picture
This project consisted in building your own island depending on how you wished it to be. It needed to have different things you like and drawings that represented important things about you. For example, I drew a football stadium, bones representing a dog, and a guitar showing what my favorite music instrument is. Other things I drew were New York as my favorite city, Liga Deportiva Universitaria as my favorite team, and a school as a future goal of success and with universities and jobs. My island also had a map key to show what each of my drawings meant and compass that pointed to the North.

I figured out that the best name for my island was “MP Island”. “MP” stands for Marc Peters. So, I decided to use the initials of my name as my island´s name. To give the island a nice decorated aspect, I decided to paint it. I paint the land of my island green and the water surrounding the island blue. Also, I drew 20 small islands around the big one which were colored in orange. The 20 little islands had no meaning, just decoration. So, I found this project really fun because I got to share my ideas and things that were important to me in an island.

Cubism

Picture
In this project, we had to show cubism in our work. We had to draw like Pablo Picasso with cubism. That is why before drawing cubism, we studied a little and saw some of Pablo´s Picasso´s drawings. First we needed to understand how to draw cubism before making the drawing. Cubism is a style of painting Picasso developed along with George Braque using monochrome brownish and neutral colors.

The drawing I designed with cubism wasn’t so easy as I thought. I took the woman from a book and I drew her using cubism. At first I thought it was an easy project, but then I realized how hard it was. Drawing cubism isn’t as easy as it looks and maybe that is one of the reasons why Pablo Picasso is so famous because how the way he draws and paints using this technique.
